Says tourism industry gets impacted by promotion through movies

Srinagar, Mar 20 (KNS): Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi on Monday said that film industry will help promote tourism sector in Jammu and Kashmir as tourism is the largest employer and most of the people are involved in this sector here. 


Talking exclusively to Kashmir News Service (KNS) at an inauguration event in Srinagar, Oberoi said tourism is very important for Jammu and Kashmir and when "we say Kashmir is a paradise, how many people come to see this paradise, so I think tourism is very important." 

He said there have been so many changes in Jammu and Kashmir in the past two years. "If we talk about numbers, more than 20 Million tourists have thronged the valley last year and the number is ever increasing. So I feel tourism has a great potential and that gets impacted by promotion through movies and films." 

He added when people see Kashmir through movies "we think oh this is a beautiful place we should visit it."

International collaborations or investments here can be very fruitful for the people especially youngsters."

Over the inauguration of Aspire, he said it is always a wonderful experience to be a part of a project. "I feel good here and to become a part of such huge project. We have invested in Aspire, which supports students of Kashmir in pursuing their education."

He said the students of Kashmir are very bright and talented, but when they are preparing for IIT or NEET they opt to go outside Kashmir to places like Kolkata, Bombay, and Delhi.  

"So through Aspire we aim to impart top quality education amongst them. For students who aspire to be engineers and doctors for them we are launching this project," he said. (KNS)
