Srinagar, Apr 08 (KNS): Member Rajya Sabha Fayaz Ahmad Mir on Wednesday urged upon central and state governments to wave off electricity fee to BPL and AAY categories. He also said fruit growers and farmers across J&K suffered losses post-August 2019 immensely so there interest on Kisan Credit Cards should also be waved off on humanitarian grounds.

Besides trade, business, education, tourism and others suffered badly, lower class of society received a big jolt who were deprived from even basic facilities.

He said there was a hope the category will again stand up for their survival but situation turned bad to worse when Covid-19 hit J&K and forced authorities to execute lockdown which added further pain and agony in their life. He also said central and state governments should come to rescue for this category who is facing lot of hardships in current lockdown situation.

Mir urged upon central and state governments to wave off at least electricity fee to Below Poverty Line (BPL) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) categories whose hand to mouth earnings have been badly hit due to lockdown situation.
