Failed projects hallmark of current Govt in JK: Kadfeen


Srinagar October 19(KNS) : Congress leader Kadfeen Choudhary has slammed the government over making the much important Water Transport Services project a failure on ground in spite of spending plethora of government funds on its implementation earlier.

Kadfeen said that amid the prevalent pandemic, Water Transport Services could have provided much relief to the common people in Kashmir who are battling all odds due to the dearth of road transportation.

Kadfeen said that the government in the past had announced Water Transport Services in Srinagar from Ghat located on river Jhelum, near the erstwhile Grindlays Bank at Zero Bridge.

Kadfeen said that the irrigation and flood control departments had made a proposal of Rs 2.20 crores for construction of additional river ghats and Rs 35 lakh for the repair of old ghats.The process of estimation for lightening arrangements along the ghats has been completed by the Power Development Department.

Now when years have passed, the project is nowhere existent on the ground and people continue to suffer, said Kadfeen, adding that during the current crises water transportation could have provided much benefit to the people as Kashmir valley particularly Srinagar city is surrounded by scores of water bodies including over Jehlum. Kadfeen asserted that one fails to understand why the government is adamant in failing the projects that ought to provide a sigh of relief to the common masses.(KNS)
