Srinagar, April 22 (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Wednesday asked J&K administration to take effective measures to keep food supply chain operative, check panic buying and hoarding to avoid difficulties to the people during the auspicious month of Ramazan.
Impressing upon administration their obligation to ensure price stability and availability of essentials to households during Ramazan, Party’s Members of Parliament Muhammad Akbar Lone , and Hasnain Masoodi said , “ the holy month of Ramadan is about to set in, come Ramadan and the requirement of all edibles increases exponentially. There are various edibles which people prefer having during the auspicious month. The present circumstances have dampened the fervor; the non-availability of various kitchen condiments, edibles, and household commodities including Ramadan specific merchandise has across J&K. People are purchasing essentials at exorbitant prices due to the inconsiderate approach of government towards rampant hoarding, and panic buying. The situation is more awful in those areas as have been classified as red and buffers zones.” Statement issued to KNS said.
Asking the government to rise up to the exigencies during the ensuing month of Ramazan party’s members of parliament said, “in view of the challenges, the present situation has thrown at us, government should come to the rescue of people and provide additional ration to people at subsidized rates. Government should increase the quota of sugar to consumers during the ensuing month. Besides that administration should also mull to come up with e-bazaars, special rapid action teams for home delivery to ensure that people are delivered necessary items at their door steps.”
Party MPs also sought uninterrupted power and water supply to consumers during the Iftaari, and Sahari time.
The duo asked the people to abide by the COVID-19 protocol and concerned government advisories in the ensuing month saying the challenges can be surmounted if people keep inside and take precautionary measures as advised by the concerned agencies. (KNS)
