Referring to recent developments in a case involving a sitting Member of Parliament, he pointed out that while a VIP accused had been granted bail, other individuals facing similar charges, including the elderly and those with severe health issues, were still languishing in jail.
"Two people died in jail in similar or same cases. No bail was granted. Most of the other accused are old, have multiple diseases. He emphasized that fairness and compassion should guide the judiciary's decisions, calling for the same "magnanimity" shown to high-profile individuals to be extended to others as well.
The tweet also highlighted that investigative agencies had not contested the bail extension for the MP and that this leniency should be applied universally. "The onus of measuring up to the highest judicial standards and fairness falls on the courts in question and the investigating agencies," he added.
