Srinagar, Oct 13 (KNS): An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district on Wednesday afternoon, police said here. 

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that a joint team of forces laid a cordon and search operation in Tilwani Mohalla of Waggad in Tral following the presence of militants in the area. 

He said that as the forces zeroed in on the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter. 

"Encounter has started at Tilwani Mohalla Waggad in #Tral area of #Awantipora. Police & Security Forces are on the job. Further details shall follow," Kashmir zone police Tweeted. (KNS)
