Srinagar, Oct 21 (KNS): An encounter broke out between militants and the security forces in Chanapora area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district on Thursday evening, police said here.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that a joint team of forces cordoned off the area following the presence of militants in the area.

He said that as the forces zeroed in on the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

The official said that encounter was going on, while further details will be shared accordingly. (KNS)
