Srinagar, Dec 08 (KNS): An encounter broke out between militants and security forces in Check Cholan area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district, Police said here on Wednesday.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) that encounter broke out in the area today morning.

He said that earlier a cordon and search operation was laid in the area and as the forces zeroed in on the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated to triggering an encounter.

He said firing was going on the area, while further details will be shared accordingly. (KNS)
