Elections to be held soon after delimitation is over in J&K: Amit Shah

Srinagar, Mar 30 (KNS): Union Home Minister, Amit Shah on Wednesday said that assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held soon after delimitation process is over.

Shah, during his speech in the Lok Sabha today said that his speech is on record in the Parliament, wherein he had stated that elections in J&K will be held after delimitation process is over and he was committed by his word.

“I had made it clear that first Panchayat elections will be held in J&K, then delimitation will be done and following which assembly elections will be held in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said, adding that after assembly polls statehood to J&K will be restored.

Shah said that panchayat elections have been held without any untoward incidents and delimitation process is about to be completed.

“I once again make it clear on the floor of the house that elections will be held in J&K after delimitation process is over and after consultations are held with all the stakeholders,” he said. (KNS)
