Dulloo reviews status of Lumpy Skin Disease in J&K

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 18 (KNS): Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Agriculture Production Department (APD), Atal Dulloo toady chaired a meeting to review measures being taken up for controlling the spread of lumpy skin disease in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the meeting, a power point presentation was presented highlighting district wise status of lumpy skin disease besides detailing controlling measures like vaccination, use of medicines, procurement of vaccines and sampling collection for testing. During the meeting threadbare discussions were held on the measures being taken up to stem the spread of disease in JK. 

It was given out in the meeting that awareness camps on Lumpy Skin Disease are being organised at different places in the UT to spread awareness among the masses.

While chairing the meeting, Dulloo stressed for strict adherence to proper protocols of treatment as per the recommendations by government of India and asked the officers to keep a control on movement of animals besides ensuring maximum vaccination to the migrating animals so that further spread of this disease is prevented.

He directed the officers for ensuring visits of expert teams to check the emerging situation and engaging maximum field staff to ensure proper vaccination. He further directed the concerned to launch awareness campaign and door to door inspections besides visits by field staff to make farmers aware about the Lumpy Skin Disease.

ACS also enquired about the availability of medicines while directing both the Directors to ensure availability of required medicines in all the affected areas so that the spread can be tackled timely and effectively.

Earlier, it was informed that till date 49477 animals have been affected with Lumpy Skin Disease, of which 43040 have recovered, so far. It was also informed that 868000 doses have been administered to the cattle across J&K.(KNS)
