Drug peddler booked under NDPS act in Handwara: Police

Handwara, Dec 26 (KNS): In its continuous war and firm commitments against drug menace, Handwara police on Sunday booked a notorious drug peddler under NDPS act for his continuous involvement in selling and distribution of drugs. 

According to a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), drug peddler namely Fareed ahmad Bhat son of Ali Jan Bhat of Tumina was booked in preventive detention under NDPS Act for his repeatedly involvement in selling and distributing drugs viz heroine, charas etc among the populace of Vilgam, Tarathpora, Kralpora and Chowkibal areas and also for his involvement in other crimes.

The statement reads that the accused was involved in different FIRs viz FIR NO.12/2020 U/s 364,302 IPC, FIR No.30/2021 U/s 8/20 NDPS Act and FIR No.74/2021 U/s 147,148,341,354,506 IPC of police station Vilgam.

“The accused was a threat to the peaceful environment who often tried to involve youth of the area in drug addiction,” it reads. (KNS)
