Dr Farooq Abdullah praises Frontline workers, ground staffers for their sacrifice, perseverance

Appreciates JK Admin for ensuring basic amenities to people during Ramzan

Srinagar, 12 May (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party President and Member of Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday expressed gratitude to the LG and his administration for their efforts towards ensuring basic amenities to people during the ongoing month of Ramzan.

In a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Dr Farooq appreciated the efforts of the LG Administration for ensuring the swift supply of essentials and availability of other basic amenities to people during the foregoing month of Ramzan.

Party President also appreciated the efforts of Departments of Food, Civil Supplies, and consumer affairs, Health, Municipality, electricity, waterworks and thousands of employees associated with them for their efforts in ensuring a passable supply chain through these challenging times. He said while life remains affected owing to the ongoing pandemic, the ground staffers of power, electricity and public distribution departments have put their own lives at risk to ensure the supply of basic amenities to people.

“The least we can do is to appreciate their efforts and pray to Almighty to bestow befitting rewards on them here and in the hereafter,” he said. Putting their own lives at risk with selfless determination for the sake of saving lives, they truly are our heroes in these pressing times, he added.

“Needless to say, doctors, and other Para medical staff, who despite their susceptibility to infections didn’t give in; the brave army of sleep-deprived and under-resourced medics, paramedics and Asha workers stood strong and many among them even sacrificed their lives while healing the affected. While cutting themselves off from the families and loved ones, the ground staffers of health, power, water, departments including sanitary workers deserve our earnest gratitude.  The sacrifice they have been making reassess the value health care workers hold in our lives. I pray for the wellbeing of all such unsung heroes of ours,” he said.

He also appreciated the efforts of all voluntary organizations and individuals for their bit in the battle against the viral sprawl. The unsung heroes combating Covid-19 are the lacs of frontline workers who besides engaging in numerous activities, ranging from door to door surveys, sanitation, testing, tracing, awareness and ensuring quarantine isolation perform their regular roles as well. “I on my behalf and on behalf of my party thank such numerous ground staffers.  We couldn’t have pulled it off without you until now. I pray for more power to them in combating the challenges that the viral spread has thrown at us,” he added.

Dr Farooq also impressed upon GOI to release Socio-Political activists of Kashmir languishing in different jails across Jammu and Kashmir and the country.(KNS)
