Srinagar, Nov 07 (KNS): The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah on Sunday asked people to make special prayers during the ongoing Urs Observance days of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA).

In his message, Dr Farooq said in present times, when people of Kashmir are going through ineffable yet palpable miseries, the magnificent spiritual and mystical entities of our land, enriched by Sufi saints do bring solace.

Sheikh Mohi udin Abdul Qadir Jilani (RA), Dr Farooq said was the towering personality in the line of great sufi saints, who had befriended no one but Almighty Allah and reached a status that was unparalleled during his generation and for all time to come.

"The urs days have set in. The shrines associated with Dastagir Sahib (RA) are abuzz with devotees. Such places have always been central to the life of every kashmiri, irrespective of his caste, creed, religion, region and sect. It continues to be so. I hope the ongoing urs observance days bring much solace to the wretched hearts of the people of J&K, Ladakh. I hope the days increase the prospects of peace and prosperity in the region," he said.

He also impressed upon the administration to ensure all basic and effective amenities to people during the ongoing urs observance days. (KNS)
