Srinagar, 06 June (KNS): Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President and Member of Parliament from Srinagar Dr. Farooq Abdullah, and Vice President Mr. Omar Abdullah on Saturday extended warm greeting to people on the 128th Urs of Hazrat Nizam Ud Din Kiyanwi Naqshbandi (RA) praying that the day increases the prospects of peace and propriety in J&k. The Urs, which is an annual affair at Baba Nagri Kangan and was being celebrated with much fanfare, stands cancelled this year owing to COVID19 pandemic.
In a statement issued to KNS NC said, Role of Sufis like Hazrat Nizam Ud Din Kiyanwi (RA) in shaping the socio- cultural milieu of Kashmir is immense, Party President said while greeting the people on the annual Urs of Hazrat Kiyanwi Sahib (RA). “The love and reverence for Sufis is entrenched in the hearts of people of Jammu and Kashmir. Ours is a society that has been fashioned by the teachings of great Sufis, Sages and mystics. The impact of such Sufis as Hazrat Kiyanwi sahib (RA) on our lives is profound .We should make it a point to introduce our new generation to the life and teachings of such great seers. I extend my warm greetings to the numerous devotees and followers of Hazrat Kiyanwi Sahib (RA) on the auspicious Urs hoping that it brings much needed peace, prosperity and tranquility to the beleaguered lives of the people in J&k,” he said.
Sufi Sainsts like Hazrat Kiyanwi Sahib (RA) on account of their piety, sincerity and god consciousness won hearts of the people of Kashmir, Party Vice President Omar Abdullah said while greeting the people on the auspicious Urs. “The message of Sufis was that of love, compassion, humility and humanity. Sufism has been the cornerstone of Kashmiri culture and ethos. I pray that the auspicious day strengthens the bonds of brotherhood in J&K,” he said.
Among others Party’s Additional General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustufa Kamal, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani, senior leader Mian Altaf, Members of Parliament Muhammad Akbar Lone and Hasnain Masoodi, spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar have also extended warm greetings to the people on the annual Urs observance of Hazrat Nizam Ud Din Kiyanwi (RA). Party functionaries urged the devotees to abide by the necessary COVID-19 protocol and required health advisories in view of the prevailing COVID-19 crisis, saying that the challenges thrown at us by the worst ever public health nightmare, the humanity is going through is surmountable provided we are united in our resolve in fighting it.
