Div Com visits Sopore town, inaugurates various developmental projects

Sopore, Apr 06 (KNS): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole Wednesday visited Sopore town and inaugurated various developmental projects, besides laid foundation stone for a public park.
 
An official said that during his visit to Sopore, he inaugurated recently completed developmental projects including fountains near degree college chowk and Ahad Bab crossing Noor Bagh. "He also laid foundation stone for a public park at Khushal Colony near MET School."
 
He said that he was accompanied by deputy commissioner Baramulla Bhupinder Kumar, director Urban Local Bodies Kashmir, Mathura Masoom and several other officers from police and civil administration.
 
On the occasion, president Municipal Council Sopore, Mussarat Kar appraised him about works being done on sanitation and anti-polythene campaign in the town.
 
He complimented the administration and MC Sopore for their work in the town and sought public cooperation to make Sopore town polythene and plastic free zone.
 
He appreciated the role of the men and what he called them as Eco-Guards involved in cleaning the water bodies and other vulnerable places in the town for their hard work and dedication. He later on felicitated them with certificates, protective equipment as well as identity cards.
 
While launching afforestation campaign organized by MC Sopore in collaboration with forest department, Pole urged people to fully support the government's initiative to clean up the environment.
 
On the occasion students from different schools also participated in the event.
 
He also distributed cheques among fire victims who recently got affected in a devastating fire incident at Hathishah area in which at least five families were rendered homeless. (KNS)
