Shopian, Sept 17 (KNS): The District Hospital Shopian is reeling under deplorable conditions, sparking grave concern over patient safety and public health. A recent health emergency exposed the shocking lack of basic facilities, with patients forced to sit on the floor due to shortage of beds, absence of essential equipment, and acute staff deficiency. The hospital suffers from a critical shortage of doctors, nurses, and sanitary workers, leaving patients without timely treatment and in highly unhygienic conditions.
Citizens say the situation is so dire that chances of survival during emergencies remain alarmingly low.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp ChannelAdding to the crisis, frequent road blockades and massive traffic jams near Fruit Mandi Shirmal caused by diversion of Jammu bound traffic through Shopian leave ambulances stranded for hours. This delay prevents critical patients from reaching Pulwama or Srinagar hospitals in time, increasing the risk of fatalities.
Locals have appealed to the Government and health authorities to take immediate action by providing adequate infrastructure, medical staff, and sanitation facilities. “Healthcare is a fundamental right. Denial of proper facilities is nothing short of putting lives at risk,” they said.(KNS)
