Director Horticulture P&M takes strong note of undercover auctions, orders immediate compliance

Srinagar, Dec 6 (KNS): Ghulam Jeelani Zargar, Director Horticulture Planning & Marketing, J&K, has taken serious note of reports circulating on social media alleging instances of undercover auctioning of horticulture and agricultural produce in certain fruit and vegetable markets of the Union Territory.

Terming the practice a clear violation of the laws and regulations governing market operations, the Directorate has issued a strict advisory to all stakeholders including traders, commission agents, and market functionaries to immediately halt any form of clandestine auctioning and ensure that all transactions are carried out through fair, transparent, and accountable open-auction procedures.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

In a circular, the Director warned that any trader or commission agent found indulging in or facilitating undercover trade would face stringent action, which may include immediate cancellation of license and other legal consequences as warranted under the law.

The concerned officers of the department have been asked to ensure strict enforcement of the instructions in letter and spirit, and to keep close vigil over market operations to prevent any unlawful practices.

The Directorate reiterated its commitment to maintaining transparency in the market system and safeguarding the interests of growers, traders, and consumers across Jammu and Kashmir.(KNS)
