Director Agriculture inaugurates Mega Awareness program on “Nano Urea Technology “at Levadora Qazigund

SRINAGAR, JANUARY 02 (KNS) : Agriculture Production Department in collaboration with Pradan Mantri Kissan Samridhi Kendra (PMKSK) Levedora Qazigund and IFFCO today organized a Nano Urea Awareness programme for the farmers of Anantnag.

 
The Awareness programme was inaugurated by Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal in presence of Chief Agriculture Officer Ajaz Hussain Dar, Chief Agriculture Officer Kulgam Sartaj Ahmad Shah, Chairman Women Cooperatives Shakeela Jan, District Agriculture Officers, Sub divisional level officers and progressive farmers of the district.
 
Director while speaking on the occasion deliberated on the aim of establishing the PMKSK in the district. He said the demand for agriculture is rising rapidly with increase in population and per capita income and growing demand from the industry sector. In order to bridge this gap to the maximum possible extent, the Agriculture department has been striving hard by implementing new approaches and strategies to provide Livelihood opportunities and contribute to the economic stability of farmers.
 
In this endeavour, the PM KSK centre will provide the doorstep facilities to the farmers by providing Soil testing facility, Call centre facility, Fertilizer availability etc. He also addressed farmers on the importance of Nano urea fertilizer awareness for reducing the losses of Nitrogen in the atmosphere.
 
Director elucidated the role of Nano urea in reducing the input cost of farmers in production and to safeguard the environment for present and future generations. He said that the UT government has approved 29 projects under holistic development of agriculture and allied sectors, and implementation of these projects would not only energize the agriculture sector but will also change the economic fortune of the farming community of the region.
 
Iqbal impressed upon the officers to raise awareness regarding these approved projects among the farming community so that the desired results and targets could be achieved in an effective and time bound manner. He asked the officers to ensure that the benefits under these projects reaches every grass root level farmer.
 
Other Officers addressed the farmers about the need of shifting towards the use of Nano Urea fertilizer prepared by IFFCO.
 
Earlier, Director Agriculture flagged-off a group of saffron farmers on a six days exposure visit under CAT, sponsored by NABARD. (KNS)
