DHSK visits SDH Kupwara, SDH Sopore, inspects on-going Mega Health Camps

Srinagar, May 11 (KNS):  Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather today visited SDH Kupwara and SDH Sopore to inspect the on-going Mega Health Camps.

The director while interacting with patients and staff said that Mega Health Camps is a great initiative of the Government of India during which people across the valley will be benefitted and all the facilities have been kept in place for the patients in terms of manpower, equipment and other related facilities.

“The initiative will go a long way to lessen burden on hospitals as patients had to wait for long time to get operated. This will help to decongest the tertiary care hospitals,” he said.

The director was accompanied by CMO Kupwara, Medical Superintendent SDH Kupwara, CMO Baramulla and BMO Sopore. Dr MA Rather directed the doctors to work with zeal, zest and dedication for the interest of patient care services.

Several surgeries were conducted today at SDH Kupwara and SDH Sopore and patients were provided with best health care services during the health camps.

The Mega Health Camp spreads across three districts and would record more than 3,000 (three thousand) surgeries of different specialities which is record so far.

He directed them to start the registration of patients for the upcoming Mega Health Camp so that patients of the peripheral hospitals get benefitted and ensure every requirement for the Mega Health Camp is met well in advance.

Dr MA Rather said patients from Ganderbal, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara and Budgam have been registered for the medical camp and shall be operated to make it successful.

On the first day, a total of 140 surgeries were conducted in four hospitals across Kashmir which includes SDH Sopore, GMC Baramulla, DH Ganderbal and SDH Kupwara.

These total figures include 23 related to obstetrics and gynaecology, 23 general surgeries, 60 ophthalmology, 06 orthopaedics, 08 ENT surgeries, 05 minor surgeries and 15 dental surgeries.   

The surgeries are being conducted at four locations including GMC Baramulla, SDH Sopore, District Hospital Kupwara and District Hospital Ganderbal for nine days from May 11 to May 19. Meanwhile, operation theatres and bed capacity of theatres have been augmented to cater to more patients.(KNS)
