DHSK inaugurates health camp for elderly people at UPHC Batamaloo

Srinagar May 24 (KNS) : Director Health Services, Kashmir Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather today inaugurated a health camp for elderly people here at UPHC Batamaloo.

 
At the health camp, 200 patients having aged more than 60 years with different ailments were seen in the camp. On the occasion, the director gave a counselling session to the kin of the patients and stressed about caring elderly people at home.
 
The camp was attended by different specialities which included Geriatric Specialists, Psychiatry, ENT, ophthalmology, dietician and physiotherapist.
 
The directorate has constituted a team of geriatric care specialists vide order: Est/3/1-133/0224-28 which include Dr Murassa Shamshad and Dr Saqiba Afzal and Dr Zubair have been assigned to monitor the functioning of Geriatric Care Program under NPHCE throughout Kashmir valley.
 
Pertinent to mention that 10 beds have been allotted to each district hospital which were earlier inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
 
Logistics for the said camp was provided by CMO Srinagar Dr Jameeel Ahmad Mir and ZMO Batamaloo, Dr Sameena Jan.
 
Later, people of Batamaloo and its adjoining areas hailed the efforts of Director Health Services Kashmir and requested him to continue such camps it in the future as well.
 
Spokesperson DHSK, Dr Mir Mushtaq said that as the population of elderly is increasing and is set to double by 2025, these health camps for elderly population are the need of the hour and aimed to make people aware about need of geriatric care.(KNS)
