Srinagar August 20 (KNS): With an aim to provide financial succor to the families of the Police personnel/SPOs who have attained martyrdom or have passed away while in service, the Director General of Police, J&K,  Dilbag Singh has sanctioned over rupees 1.22 crore as Special Welfare Relief for NoKs of such deceased Police personnel/ SPOs. While as rupees 93.50 lakh as ex-gratia relief has also been sanctioned in favour of legal heirs of martyred Police personnel/SPO.

Vide different PHQ Orders an ex-gratia relief of rupees 38 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of Martyrs HC Ali Mohammad Ganie, Constable Tawseef Ahmad Wani. Similarly rupees 17.50 lakh has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs martyr SPO Shafat Nazir Khan.

The Special Welfare relief of rupees 22 lakh each has been sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased Police personnel ASI Manzoor Ahmad, HCs Shalinder Singh, Vinod Kumar, Followers Ghulam Hassan and Nazir Ahmad. The deceased personnel have passed away due to illness/ natural death while in service.

Rupees one lakh each was already paid to NoKs of these martyrs/deceased police personnel for performing last rites through their concerned units. The Special Welfare Relief is sanctioned out of Contributory Police Welfare Funds.

Similarly rupees 6 lakh each as Special Welfare Relief has been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased SPOs Swarn Singh and SPO Abdul Hamid Sheikh who have passed away during the course of their engagement in the department.

Rupees 50 thousand each was already paid to their families for performing last rites. The amount is sanctioned out of the Contributory Welfare Fund of SPOs.

Besides, the DGP has also sanctioned Rupees one lakh as financial assistance in favour of NoKs of martyr constable to defray the expenses in connection with the marriage ceremony of his daughter.

Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of martyrs, their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses.
