Youth given opportunity to shun the path of violence: DGP

Srinagar, 22 June (KNS): Congratulating the officers and Jawans of SOG Srinagar of J&K Police and CRPF valley QAT for conducting a clean and successful operation in a very congested and densely populated area Zadibal Srinagar yesterday, the Director General of Police J&K Dilbag Singh lauded the synergy and understanding between the forces in Jammu and Kashmir. DGP also visits Kulgam district where he chairs officers meeting to review security scenarios and law & order situations.

According to police spokesman, he was interacting with the officers and jawans of Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF at Police Golf Course Srinagar who participated and successfully neutralized three terrorists who were involved in the attack of BSF party in Pandach area of Hazratbal on 20.05.2020 in which two BSF Jawans attained martyrdom and terrorists managed to decamp with the service weapons of the BSF Jawans. The terrorists involved were successfully eliminated and the weapon of the martyr BSF jawans was recovered from their possession in the encounter yesterday.

The interaction was attended by the IGP CRPF Sector Srinagar Shri Pramod Kumar Pandey, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, DIG CRPF South Doop Singh Maan, DIG CRPF North Davinder Jeet Singh, SSP Srinagar Dr Haseeb Mughul, SP PC (Cargo) Tahir Ashraf, SP Hazratbal Sudanshu Pandey, SP East Seema Nabi and Srinagar based Commandants of CRPF.

During the interaction the DGP congratulated the officers and Jawans of Police and CRPF for conducting a clean and successful operation in a very congested and densely populated area of Zadibal Srinagar with no collateral damage. He appreciated the synergy, professionalism, alertness and patience displayed by the Police Component Srinagar (Cargo) and CRPF Valley QAT during various operations conducted and also for pro-active approach of security forces during evacuation of civilians and ensuring in minimizing the damage associated with the operation.

He said that the synergy and understanding between the different forces especially Police and CRPF have yielded good results a number of times and added that in future too the success will be ours. He said that the handling of law & order during the operation and post operation is praiseworthy and commended the officers of Police and CRPF for that.

The DGP said that during operation restraining emotions and actions is very challenging but the forces on ground in Jammu & Kashmir have shown exemplary control on their actions many times in the past. He said that in this operation too, the officers have taken every chance to make the terrorist surrender. He said that repeated appeals were made by the Police, family members and community members to the terrorists to surrender and shun the path of violence.

The DGP said that our commitment is to provide a peaceful atmosphere for the people of J&K, and added that youth of Jammu and Kashmir lured by the Pakistan sponsored terror outfits and their supporters have always been given an opportunity to shun the path of violence and live a peaceful life with their loved ones.

The DGP exhorted upon the officers and Jawans to be extra vigilant and careful as the elements inimical to peace and the terrorist handlers across the border are anxious to disturb the peace and order in the Union Territory. He stressed on the necessity to keep Srinagar city free from the terrorism and also emphasized to work on the networks associated with terror modules operating in other regions of Kashmir having linkages to Srinagar.

The DGP announced and distributed rewards among the jawans of J&K Police and CRPF valley QAT for their exemplary performance and professionalism. He further emphasized and instructed the men and officers to adhere to SOPs issued from time to time, while handling law and order and on countering terrorism.

The DGP later on visited Kulgam to review the security scenario and Law & order situation. He was accompanied by ADGP CID Shri R. R. Swain and IGP Kashmir Shri Vijay Kumar, where he was received by the DIG SKR and SP Kulgam. He was presented guard of honour on his arrival.

The DGP Dilbag Singh chaired the officers meeting which was attended besides ADGP CID & IGP Kashmir by DIG South Kashmir range Shir Atul Goel, DIG CRPF Shri D S Ambesh, SSP Kulgam Shri Gurinderpal Singh, SSP Awantipora Tahir Salim Khan, CO CRPF 18th Bn Gourav Singh, other senior and jurisdictional officers of the District.

During the meeting the DGP had a threadbare discussion on the prevailing security scenario and law & order of South Kashmir with the concerned officers. He appreciated the efforts of J&K Police along with Army & CAPF in maintaining peace and order in the area. Referring to recently conducted operations in a religious place in Awantipora, the DGP impressed upon and appreciated the officers and Jawans for successfully accomplishing encounters and neutralizing terrorists without collateral damages and taking due precautions in safeguarding the lives of civilians.

The DGP stressed upon officers to be vigilant as the enemies of peace are looking for the chances to disrupt the peace. He said that the peaceful atmosphere in Jammu & Kashmir has been achieved after a lot of hard work and thousands of sacrifices by Police & Security Forces.

The DGP impressed upon the officers that the safety and security of the people is our prime concern. He said that JKP along with the Army and CAPF have succeeded in creating a sense of security among the minds of the people. He also impressed upon the officers to work with full professionalism, sincerity and in a dedicated manner for the welfare of the people while taking due care of their security. (KNS)
