DG Horticulture visits CoE Zawoora, takes stock of horticulture activities

Srinagar March 12:(KNS)  Director General Horticulture, Kashmir, Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (JKAS) today visited Centre of Excellence (CoE), Zawoora. Chief Horticulture officer, Srinagar accompanied him during his visit.

Speaking on the occasion Director General Informed that the Department is going to throw open the Centre for general public in the coming summer as a part of Horticulture Tourism which is among the various initiatives taken by U.T. Administration. He further added that it will help in promoting the Horticulture Sector as well as the tourism sector in the valley. He further said that more farms and nurseries will be thrown open for public.

 
Director General also took stock of various development activities being carried out at the Centre and appreciated the efforts put up by the staffparticularly regarding transplantation of rootstock and Walnut grafting. He also gave on spot instructions to CHO, Srinagar to install Deep Irrigation and graft the walnut to the maximum possibility. He further gave instructions regarding development a Walnut progeny orchard by importing latest Walnut cultivars like Chandler etc.
 
Director General also gave instructions to the developer to complete the project in all aspects well in time. Ex. Engineer, Horticulture (P&M), was also directed to complete all the civil works within one month.
