DG Horticulture tours North Kashmir, asks officers to aware people about schemes

Srinagar July 28:(KNS) Director General, Horticulture Kashmir Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat

(KAS), conducted an extensive tour of North Kashmir and visited Canning Centre at Sopore. He was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer, Baramulla, who was instructed by the Director General to ensure expeditious completion of renovation work being carried out in the Centre, besides stressed for imparting training on preservation of fruit andvegetables to the youth on priority basis, in order to enable them to create employment opportunity for themselves and others. 

The Director General also visited the Departmental Nursery at

Zangam Pattan and newly established Soil Testing Laboratory & Horticulture Development Office at Kreeri, where he took stock of

different activities, and stressed for completion of developmental works within a prescribed time period. 

He advised the Chief Horticulture Officer that awareness about different Departmental Schemes should be created among general

public, particularly with regards to recently launched “Modified High

Density Plantation Scheme”. He further instructed the officers to make frequent visits to the field and provide the growers with latest technical knowhow.

Later the Director General interacted with the Cold Store

owners and advised them to create grower friendly atmosphere and

urged them to provide quality services to public in general and growers in particular. (KNS)
