Department committed to transform J&K into thriving hub for filmmakers: Secretary Tourism

 
Srinagar, May 06 (KNS): Secretary Tourism, Dr. Syed Abid Rashid on Saturday said that over the past year, more than 250 movies and web-series have been successfully recorded in the region, fueling the drive to revive and elevate the film industry in J&K.

While speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), here at Srinagar, he expressed his commitment to transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a thriving hub for filmmakers. He said that the stunning landscapes and cultural diversity of the state have attracted numerous productions, serving as an ideal backdrop for various cinematic ventures.

He also said that the government has implemented measures to streamline clearance procedures and provide financial incentives to filmmakers. "Infrastructure and logistics support are also being enhanced to facilitate smooth production processes within J&K," he said.

He highlighted the significant economic impact of a revived film industry, emphasizing the creation of employment opportunities for local communities. The renewed focus on developing J&K's film sector aims to provide a platform for aspiring filmmakers, actors, and technicians, while also attracting international attention, he said.(KNS)
