Deceased Army soldier laid to rest with full military honor in Kupwara village

Kupwara, Sept 21 (KNS): The deceased army soldier, who died of cardiac arrest while on duty in Jodhpur on September 19, was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Gundsena village of North Kashmir's Kupwara district on Tuesday with full military honors, army said here.  

In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that Abdul Qayoom Khan son of Shamsudin Khan of Gundsena Hyhama had served in the Army Service Corps of Indian Army for 17 years and was presently serving in DSC in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.  

"On 19 September, at the young age of 37 years he lost his life to Cardiac arrest while on duty. He left behind his parents, wife, two sons and a daughter," the statement reads. 

It reads that the mortal remains reached Gundsena today and the Indian Army took part in the funeral and wreaths on behalf of GOC and all ranks of Vajr Division were laid, and National Flag was handed over to the father. "Presence of 400 people at the funeral was a testimony of love and respect for the deceased soldier from Indian Army."

It further reads the officers of Indian Army visited the family at their residence to express their condolences and assured them of Army's full support. (KNS)
