KUPWARA, May 22 (KNS): District Administration Kupwara has decided to send the Teams of District Officers to all border areas of the district including  Keran, Machil, Tanghar, Teetwal, Jumagund and Budnumbal to take stock of availability of basic amenities, saturation level of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and general issues and grievances faced by the residents of these areas, so that the same are addressed to ensure good governance at their doorsteps.

Accordingly,  District Development Commissioner(DDC) Kupwara, Khalid Jahangir has issued a schedule for visit of Teams of District Officer to these Border areas from MAY 24.

As per schedule,  on May 24 and 25 ,teams of officers shall visit to Keran, Machil and Tanghar  while as on June 7 and 8, the teams shall visit Teetwal, Jumagund and Budnambal.

People of the respective areas have been asked to participate in the programme as per the schedule and project their grievances before the teams of district officers.

The DDC , in this regard  has said that such practice  remained  very successful during his earlier tennure and  hoped that the current programme shall also  prove as a revolutionary step to resolve grievances of border people on the spot at their doorsteps.

The concerned District/Sectoral Officers were directed to take the concerned field officers along for making the exercise meaningful and ensure visit to respective areas as per devised schedule and organize/participate in the Block Diwas Programme and take immediate steps for redressal of grievances/issues faced by the inhabitants of these areas. The teams  were also directed to submit their joint report along with action taken/status in the office of the Joint Director Planning (JDP) for further appropriate action.

It is pertinent to mention that District Kupwara is the northern frontier district, with an area of 2379 square kilometres, having varied topography and more than 240 Kms of LOC. The district Kupwara comprises of 24 CD Blocks with over 10 lakh population. The district has various border hilly pockets / blocks including Keran, Machil, Karnah, Teethwal, Jumagund, Badnambal etc which are located near LOC and are far away from the district headquarter. Each border pockets/blocks have its own peculiar set of issue and  problems faced by the inhabitants  on day-to-day basis and to resolve their issues administration has made a programme to make administration available to people of border areas at their doorsteps.(KNS)
