Jammu, December 23 (KNS): Union Minister and Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) poll in-chage in Jammu & Kashmir, Anurag Thakur today said that District Development Council (DDC) election results have given a befitting reply to former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

Thakur was addressing a press conference in Jammu a day after BJP emerged as single largest party in DDC elections, first major electoral exercise in Union Territory post abrogation of Article 370.

“DDC election result is a clear message to those leaders of the Gupkar Alliance, especially Mehbooba Mufti who had said that no one will unfurl the tri-colour in J&K. People have expressed their faith in Indian democracy”, Thakur said according to KNS correspondent.

He said that what can be more an eye-opener for Peoples Democratic Party and Congress is that independent candidates have polled more votes than these parties, which clearly shows that people in Kashmir and Jammu region have not accepted the agenda of these parties.

Thakur said that people of J&K have put trust in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi who have taken several steps to strengthen grassroot democracy in J&K and also ensure developmental activities are given a push for the welfare of the people.( KNS)
