"Issue white paper, to safeguard poor people': DAP to J&K UT Govt

DODA Jan 20 (KNS): Continuing the protests against the unfriendly land eviction order, hundreds of leaders & workers from Democratic Azad Party on friday held the peaceful protest at Doda.

According to a statement issued to KNS, The protesters marched towards DC office and submitted the memorandum to DC Doda in presence of District President DAP Asif Gattu, General Secretary DAP R.S. Chib, Vice Chairman G.M. Saroori, Jugal Kishore Sharma Provincial President, Aslam Goni Working Committee Member, Salman Nizami Chief Spokesperson, P.R. Manhas Zonal President, Ex MLA Sham Lal Bhagat, Ramesh Parihar, Capt Sham Lal, Iqbal Kohli, Farooq Shikari, Mohd Sadiq. General Secretary DAP R.S. Chib said that as long as the order is not revoked and people heaving sigh of relief, they will continue to register their protests across the Union Territory of Jammu Kashmir. The protest was organized on the instructions of party chief Ghulam Nabi Azad. He said, in view of the decision taken by the Supreme Court of India, we demand that the UT govt should come out with full details about all the cases so that the interest of the poor people is safeguarded.

The SC directions not to demolish the houses, makes our demand more genuine and justified. We will continue our protest, till order is not revoked and fresh order be issued to safeguard the genuine cases. G.M. Saroori, Vice Chairman said “Our only demand is government shall revoke this order. We have the first right over our resources and our bureaucrats can’t render people homeless while sitting in cosy rooms,” they said. Chief Spokesperson Salman Nizami said the order by the government is reflecting its mind-set towards the needy and poor people. “If they continue to have same mind-set, the day is not far when every person will be on roads against the government,” they said. Jugal Kishore, Provincial President said urged government to revoke the order on humanitarian grounds and spare the common and poor people in these harsh winters. DAP is always raising the voices of people and it will continue to support and stand for the people as long as they get their rights.

The party has been holding protests all across the Union Territory ever since the order of land eviction was passed by the government. The protest was held despite rains and snowfall in the area which failed to dampen the spirit of protesters. Among others who participated in the protest were Asghar Khanday, Iqbal Telli, Amin Magray, Amar Chand Bhagat, Neelam Devi, Shafi Magray, Pritam Kotwal, Fatima Shikari, Ashraf Malik, Rakesh Kumar, Kartar Singh, Jagdish Bhagat & others.(KNS)
