CUK’s 2-week ‘Research Methodology Workshop’ concludes

Ganderbal, Oct 13 (KNS): The two week “Research Methodology Workshop” for the research scholars in the disciplines of Business Studies, Social Sciences, Media and Legal Studies, organised by the Directorate of Research and Development, Central University of Kashmir (CUK), concluded at Green Campus of the varsity here on Wednesday.

Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, Finance Officer, Prof. Fayaz Ahmad Nikka Director R&D, Prof. Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director DIQA, Prof. Wali Muhammad Shah, former Director R&D, Prof. G M Bhat, faculty members and research scholars were also present on the occasion.

Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, interacted with the research scholars and said the university will conduct more such programmes in future in order to upgrade, enhance and hone the research skills of the scholars. Describing research as the bedrock of any higher educational institution, Prof. Zargar said the university will never compromise on the quality of research. “The research conducted by the scholars should necessarily be beneficial to the community,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Director, R&D, Prof. Farooq A Shah said, the number of research scholars in the university has increased manifold and the R&D is doing everything to provide proper facilities to them. “The R&D is coming up with new proposals to ease the conduct of research,” he said. About the workshop he said, there were 44 sessions, where resource persons from CUK, KU, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Ashoka University and Jawaharlal Nehru University contributed.

Addressing the gathering, Finance Officer, Prof. Fayaz A Nikka, said that adoption of good research methodology is an important component of quality research. “Conduct of workshops like these helps research scholars to identify the proper methodology, which later forms the base of the quality research,” he added.

Director DIQA, Prof. Wali Muhammad Shah, underscored the need for adopting interdisciplinary approach in research. He appreciated the Directorate of Research and Development for organizing the workshop.

Former Director, R&D, Prof. G M Bhat, highlighted the importance of holding such workshops and said the scholars pursuing research in any field should be well versed with the tools and techniques used in research methodology. “Strict adherence to the ethical values of research are also imperative for producing quality research,” he said.

Dr. Khalid Wasim Hassan, workshop Coordinator conducted the valedictory proceedings while as Asst Prof. Department of Management Studies, Insha Farooq proposed the vote of thanks.  Later, Registrar, Prof. M Afzal Zargar, distributed participation certificates among the research scholars. (KNS)
