Bandipora, Dec 10 (KNS): One of the slain cops, Mohammad Sultan (37) who was killed in a militant attack in north Kashmir’s Bandipora on Friday evening was the lone bread earner for his family.

Sultan, who hailed from Shah Wali Muqam Dangerpora area of Sopore has left behind four children, wife and elderly father.

Talking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), cousin of Sultan said that he was the lone bread earner of his family and recently his wife gave birth to twin babies, who are just 2-3 months old now, besides, he has two other children and elderly father.

He said that Sultan had joined the Jammu and Kashmir Police in 2009 and was earning only for his ailing father and children.

“After joining the police he was first posted at Bandipora in 2015 and last year he was transferred to Kupwara and was later transferred back to Bandipora,” his cousin said.

He said that Sultan has left behind four kids, his wife and ailing father. “His two sons are 10 and 07 years old and other children, who are twin are just 3 months old. He was the lone bread earner of his family,” he said.

“Now who will take care of his little children. He was the only support for his family as his father is an aged man. What was his crime. Why was he killed,” he asked.

Talking to KNS, one of Sultan’s colleagues said that he always wanted to work at Bandipora as the place was nearby to his native village.

He said that Sultan wanted to work around his family as he was their only support. “He was happy now as before two-three months he was transferred to Bandipora.”

Notably, on Friday evening two cops were shot dead by militants in Gulshan Chowk area of Bandipora.

The slain cops were identified as SgCt Mohammad Sultan and constable Fayaz Ahmad, who were the part of escort of Station House Officer Bandipora. (KNS)
