Constitution Day celebrated at Amar Singh College, Srinagar

Srinagar November 26 (KNS): On 26th of November 2022, Department of Political Science, Debates and Seminars Committee and AKAM Committee of Amar Singh College, Cluster University Srinagar, celebrated Samvidhan Divas (Constitution Day) . 


The programme started with the inaugural lecture by Prof. Arifat, Head Department of Political Science. Prof Arifat Jan threw the light on the relevance of the Samvidhan Divas and emphasized the need for conducting such Programmes. The inaugural address was followed by the welcome address delivered by Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather, worthy Principal Amar Singh College, Cluster University Srinagar. 

He deliberated on the Genesis of the Indian Constitution and traced a brief history of its evolution over the decades. The welcome address was followed by the preamble reading ceremony led by worthy Principal. All the staff members and students participated in the event. After the preamble reading. Prof. Tafazul Hussain, Assistant Professor Department of Political Science, delivered a special lecture on the theme of this ‘Samvidhan Divas Bharat Lok Tantra Ki Janani’(India The - Mother of Democracy). Learned speaker traced the origin of democracy in India to early vedic times and proclaimed that India is the benefactor of democracy to rest of the world. Prof. Tafazul also alluded to the international Debates on the contribution of India to the Genesis of democracy given flip by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi recent address at UN General Assembly. The programme concluded with the formal vote of thanks presented by Shahnawaz Muntazir, Assistant Professor (English) and Convenor AKAM Committee. 

The programme was moderated by Miss Mansha Syed and Miss Falak, Students of BA 5th semester of the College.(KNS)
