Congress Pays glowing tributes to Father of the Nation on his Martyrdom Day

Srinagar Jan 30:(KNS) The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Sunday paid glowing tributes to father of the Nation on his 74th Martyrdom at Srinagar Party Office while recalling his sacrifices and selfless towards the Nation.

On the 74th Martyrdom day of father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, JKPCC organized an extraordinary function in which prominent Party leaders, DCC Presidents and Frontal Organization workers participated and paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.

Senior Congress and Srinagar DCC President Abdul Gani Khan led the party leaders and workers in paying tributes to Father of the Nation. On this occasion two minute’s silence was observed in the honour of Mahatma.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Gani Khan said on this day the cruel hands of Nathu Ram Godsey assassinated Mahatma Gandhi leaving the entire Nation in grief and termed the Martyrdom of Mahatma a great loss to Nation, which could not be replaced by anything.

Mahatma Fought against the British Colonial Rule while leading the peaceful struggle to restore the lost honour and dignity of people of India, Senior Congress Leader added said it should be the paramount for every group or individual living in the country to respect the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and strengthen the secular fabric and unity in the country, for which Mahatma Gandhi laid down his life.

Among other who spoke on the occasion and paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi included DCC Presidents Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday, Umer Jaan besides Mir Ruvais, Shameema Sopori, Shameema Khan, Gazi Ruhullah, Mir Mustafa Magami,Zahid Bashir,Mohd Hussain Wada, Mehreen Bhat,Tariq Ahmad, Shabir Ahmad, Jan Mohd Bhat, Frontal Organization works and prominent workers of Srinagar District.(KNS)
