Srinagar, Oct 31 (KNS): Congress on Sunday paid floral tributes to Iron Lady of India Indira Gandhi on her 37th assassination day, recalling her sacrifices and selfless services to the Nation.

The Party also remembered Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on his 146th birth anniversary, describing him a man of vision.

The J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Ghulam Ahmad Mir led the rank and file of party to floral tributes to Former Prime Minister of India Martyr Indira Gandhi, terming her Martyrdom as a great loss to Nation.

Addressing the Party leaders and workers at Srinagar Party Office, JKPCC President Ghulam Ahmad Mir said the stateswoman Indira Ji was leader of masses, who gave her blood,while rendering her best services to the Nation, which contributed to  India’s inclusive development on every front.

“The iron lady served as India’s first female Prime Minister, she garnered widespread public support due to her vision and courage with the result she was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 1971,” Mir said.

“The only daughter of first Prime Minister Jahwarlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi was destined for politics, she also received accolades for leading India to self-sufficiency in food grain production as well as for her great achievements in defense, communication and in other fields taking the prestige of India to new heights,” JKPCC President said.

“India was strong and powerful due to the concerted efforts, sacrifices and selfless services rendered by Nehru Gandhi family,” Mir added and said India was prosperous and strong in every field because of the sacrifices of Nerhu Gandhi Family, those blaming them must know that if the Nation was safe, self-reliant and strong, it was because of their sacrifices and services.

On this occasion, Mir blamed the BJP for creating atmosphere of uncertainty especially on economic, employment, development fronts and said shifting blame on others especially Nerhu Gandhi family inorder to hide wrong policies and lack of vision on their part was condemnable, the fact of the matter remains that Nation knows as to what BJP was doing for the sake of remaining in power and also realize that it (BJP) was only concerned how to exploit people and grab power, he said.

Speaking on the occasion JKPCC Vice President and Former Legislators Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Bashir Ahmad Magrey, Gulzar Ahmad Ahmad Wani, PCC General Secretary Surinder Singh Channi also addressed and paid rich tributes to departed leaders.  

JKPCC also paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallab Bhai Patel on his 146th birth anniversary, describing him a visionary and a man of integrity, who has rendered his great services to Nation.

On this occasion 14 prominent political activist from Khansaheb area of Budgam District led by Firdous Nabi and Aqib Khanday joined Congress party under the Leadership of JKPCC President G.A.Mir.

Those who were present and paid floral tributes to departed leaders included JKPCC Vice Presidents, Former Legislators, District Congress Committee Presidents, Senior Party Leaders, AICC Member/PCC Members, frontal organizational workers and block presidents. (KNS)
