Srinagar Aug 09 (KNS): As part of Nationwide programme, Congress today kick started Padyatra to celebrate 75th year of India’s independence.
J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmad Mir kicked started Padyatra from Manzmou area of South Kashmir which passed through Dongiwari, Tanjloo, Bakerwal Check,Wangund, Ujroo, Hiller, Bumdal, Badermna, Munda, Lower Munda, Changoo. Saidiwara, Khangund and Verinag areas covering 75 kms.
During the 75 Km long Padyatra, J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmad Mir addressed largely attended gatherings at various places and apprised the people about the significance of the Padyatra which marks 75th year of Independence from British Colonial Rule after countless sacrifices given by the Freedom Fighters.
Mir said this day 09th August refreshes the memory of quit India movement launched by Mahatma Gandhi who led the Nation in its struggle to achieve freedom from the savagery of the Foreign Rule to bring back the lost dignity and honour of the oppressed people. We are also celebrating the achievements of the Congress Party, which is accredited to have laid the foundation of Modern India while taking its prestige to the heights in every field. Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru who was the first Minister of India led the Nation towards inclusive development and prosperity ensuring that India was recognized as one amongst the powerful Nations of the world, Mir added.
On this occasion JKPCC President slammed ruling BJP for trying to distort the history by building fake narrative, the reality is that Modi Govt at Centre could not achieve anything accept paper work and Jumla Bazi on account of the development, employment etc, which is no nowhere to be seen, so the BJP is doing everything to divert the attention of the people from the real issues aiming to hide behind its utter failures, misrule and mismanagement of things.
On this occasion, JKPCC President demanded restoration of democracy and full statehood to J&K saying that erstwhile J&K State was divided into to two UTs by the BJP Govt just to fulfill their political agenda and distort the history, but the reality is that reorganization of the State has given birth to disillusionment and mistrust leading to chaotic situation and huge losses caused to people on all fronts.
You cannot distort the history or hide the sacrifices given by the freedom fighters and Congress party for the Nation, you can no longer mislead people about the achievements of Congress Party for the fact, it (Congress) has laid the foundation of modern India leading to its inclusive development, stability and prosperity, Mir told the Modi Govt.
Prominent Party leaders and workers including Former Legislators, Mohd Amin Bhat, Gulzar Ahmad Wani, PCC Gen Secretary Surinder Singh Channi, Secretaries Mohd Iqbal Mir, Abid Kashmiri, Kadfeen Chowdhary, DCC President Imtiyaz Parray, Umer Jaan, DDC members Ch.Akhter Kasana, Shabir Ahmad Dar, Mohd Saleem.
Ganie, besides large number of locals of their respective areas participated in Padyatra with great enthusiasm and celebrated 75the year of independence.
Mohd Amin Bhat,Gulzar Ahmad Wani, S.S.Channi also addressed series of public gatherings and urged the people to rise to the occasion to defeat the BJP for punishing and failing people on all counts.(KNS)
