Congress General Secretary demands creation of fruit mandi in Tral

Srinagar September 20, (KNS): The Jammu & Kashmir and Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) General Secretary on Monday sought creation of Fruit Mandi to ensure respite to growers, besides replacing losses.

Reacting to the pressing demand for creation of Fruit Mandi in Tral area, JKPCC General Secretary Surinder Singh Channi has said that horticulture sector from Awantipora to Tral area produce thousands of metric tons of fruit, every year,  but the absence of fruit  mandi force them (growers) to sell their production on road sides, which leads to huge losses to growers.

The administration has reportedly identified the land at Nawdal Tral for the fruit mandi, but the work on the project seems to be slow, with the result, growers right from are suffering, besides facing huge inconvenience, while selling their production in open market, Channi Singh said.

It is very unfortunate that growers of Awantipora and Tral area are the worst hit on account of non-availability of Fruit Mandi, PCC General added and urged the Govt to speed up the work to ensure respite to growers, besides replacing losses confronting growers since a long time.(KNS)
