Alleges mass rigging of votes at four booths of Garoora village

Srinagar, Dec 18 (KNS): Awami National Conference senior-vice president, Muzzafar Shah on Saturday demanded enquiry into DDC election of Bandipora-A constituency, while alleging that due to mass rigging of votes Apni party’s candidate was declared as winner.

Addressing a press conference at Srinagar, Shah said that ANC’s candidate Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat was leading in Bandipora-A constituency by 752 votes right upto 2pm, but after 2pm, all the votes of four booths of Garoora were found to be one sided.

He said that his party immediately informed the election commission about one-sided voting, but they refused to accept the same.

Shah added that during counting of votes, Apni Party candidate was declared as winner, who happens to be wife of Apni party leader Usman Majid.

“Before elections ANC had filed a petition at the election commission regarding the same as they there was an apprehension that there will be rigging of votes in Garoora. The party had demanded installation of CCTV cameras at four election booths in Garoora, which happens to be the native village of Apni party vice-president Usman Majid,” he claimed.

He said that the state election commission had agreed to their demand but at the time of elections there was still mass rigging of votes at Garoora.

Shah said that they filed a case in this regard and urged the concerned authorities to check the whole recording of election day from the CCTV cameras.

“After the directions of High Court, concerned official additional deputy commissioner was asked to look into the matter but nothing has been done so far,” he said, while demanding a fair enquiry into the matter. (KNS)
