BANDIPORA, OCT 5 (KNS): The T20 cricket tournament organised by District Police Bandipora under its Civic Action Programme concluded at Gurez Stadium on Sunday, with Chontiwari emerging as champions after defeating Wanpora by 16 runs in the final.
The tournament was played on a knockout basis, with around 16 teams from different areas of Gurez and Tulail participating in the competition.
In the final, Chontiwari, after winning the toss and opting to bat first, posted 185 runs in 19.5 overs. Wanpora put up a fight during the chase but managed to score 169 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs, falling short by 16 runs.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
DIG North Kashmir Range Baramulla, Vinod Kumar, IPS, attended the final as the chief guest, while SSP Bandipora Ajaz Ahmed Zargar was the guest of honour.
The dignitaries presented trophies, cash prizes and medals to the winning and runner-up teams.
A large number of local residents and cricket enthusiasts from across Gurez Valley witnessed the final match and applauded the participating teams.
The tournament was organised as part of the District Police Bandipora's Civic Action Programme aimed at providing sporting opportunities to youth and encouraging their participation in constructive activities. (KNS)
