Chinar Corps organizes Cricket Tournament in Anantnag


Ananthang October 28:(KNS) South Kashmir being the pivot of sports & adventure for youth, there has been an incessant and intense request of local youth to participate in sports tournaments. Understanding the innate requirement and depth of connect which will be a resultant outcome, Unit of Chinar Corps organised Anantnag Cricket Tournament (ACT) involving more than 12 teams of boys, girls and various working personnel from different fields. The event was conducted at Anantnag High Ground with effect from 25-28 October 2020 with an apt name “ ACT, for the future”.
ACT was aimed at further deepening the bonhomie amongst all Indian Army and Awaam. The tournament also witnessed display of strength of women folk wherein two girls’ teams from Anantnag participated in the game with aggression, enthusiasm and energy. ACT also witnessed unique matches wherein Sarvada Yudhe - XI played matches with DC - XI and Media - XI. Besides, eight other local boys’ teams competed with each other to pick up the winner’s regalia.
“ACT… For the Future’’ commenced on 25 October 2020 post joint inauguration by Mr KK Sidha, DC Anantnag and Colonel Dhiraj Kumar, Commanding Officer 127 Light Air Defence Regiment (Composite). Teams were divided into two pools and played matches on league-cum-knock out basis. The teams of Lions Cricket Club and Fighter Eleven reached finals after fierce competition. The tournament culminated with prize distribution and concluding remarks by Brigadier Tarun Narula, Commander 619 (Independent) Air Defence Brigade on 28 October 2020. Various dignitaries to include Shri DS Ambesh, DIG (Ops) CRPF, Shri Hilal Ahmed Shah, Chairman of Municipal Council Anantnag and others were present during finals.
Ecstatic local youths expressed their gratitude to the Indian Army for the conduct of tournament. Addressing the young boys and girls, the dignitaries present urged them to play hard and make the nation proud by improving with every passing day.(KNS)
