Srinagar, Apr 16 (KNS): Chinar Corps on Saturday organised an Iftar party for the local citizens at Badami Bagh Cantonment, which 
was held for the first time after COVID pandemic had halted such community gatherings. 
 
In a statement, issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), a spokesperson said that over 200 citizens including politicians, Police and civil administration officials, social and youth activitists, community leaders and religious teachers cutting across the religious lines, attended the event. 
 
The statement reads that the Army personnel joined the gathering in offering prayers before breaking the fast.
 
Syed Abdul Latief, Mirwaiz, Central Kashmir addressed the gathering on the occasion. 
 
He said that Kashmir has always been blessed with the colours of all religion and mentioned that Islam is synonymous with love, peace and humanity. 
 
“A true believer works towards peace and betterment of the society. Kashmiriyat stands for communal harmony, peace and brotherhood and I pray for it to return to Kashmir,” he said.
 
Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen DP Pandey, GOC Chinar Corps said that the event marks the bonhomie, harmony and respect that Kashmiri communities have for each other. 
 
He further said that the Iftar today is celebration of the core values of our nation, epitomised by unity in diversity, brotherhood and secularism. 
 
The GOC joined the gathering in praying for peace, happiness and prosperity in the region. (KNS)
