Chhattisgarh man washed away due to flash floods in Rajouri, another rescued

Rajouri, July 29 (KNS): A man from Chhattisgarh was washed away by flash floods while another one was rescued in Rajouri district, following heavy rainfall for the last more than 24 hours, officials said here. 

Officials told Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that the man was washed away in Bathooni area of Rajouri while his colleague was rescued safely by a joint team of police and NDRF. They said that the duo had gone to a nearby island and were trapped in flash floods. 

The officials said that several mud houses also suffered damage, while a foot bridge in Dhara Bagla was washed away due to overflowing of water in the river. 

They also said that Jammu-Rajouri-Poonch highway was also closed for some time due flash floods. 

All the rivers are flowing over danger mark, while DC Rajouri has issued a red alert in the district and appealed to the people to stay away from water bodies and move to the safer places. (KNS)
