Srinagar, May 15 (KNS): J&K Hoteliers Club (JKHC) has hailed Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for approving a Rs 3 crore relief package to the tourism sector which has suffered due to the COVD-19 pandemic.

In a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), Chairman JKHC Mushtaq Chaya said the relief package to the tourism sector is a welcome step and it would provide relief to the ground workers in the tourism sector who are the pillars of this trade.

Chaya said the relief package should be credited to the beneficiaries in a time-bound manner so that the affected take the benefit of the relief in time.

The J&KHC Chairman further said the LG administration should further announce more relief packages for the registered unitholders who have been facing bad times for over two years due to the pandemic.

Chaya said the government should immediately announce amnesty on taxes, power tariffs, water bills and other government charges.

“The pandemic is a global phenomenon and every sector, especially tourism, is badly hit which can't be revived as long as the pandemic is not eliminated. By the time, tourism industry revives, the government should announce an amnesty scheme for the stakeholders who are facing tough times,” he said.

While also hailing LG administration for providing free vaccination for the people of the J&K, Chaya said the government should immediately procure more vaccines and cover most of the population so that pandemic is defeated.

He also appealed to people to follow SOPs and abide by the health guidelines provided by the government from time to time.

Secretary-General J&KHC, Tariq Rashid Ghani, also welcomed the relief package for the tourism sector. He also applied to the LG administration for announcing tax and user changes amnesty to the sector.(KNS)
