Srinagar July 05 (KNS) : Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir, officals from Jammu Kashmir Waqf Board Tuesday visited the shrine of Hazrat Mir Sayid Ali Hamadani (RA) at Khanqah in Downtown here to take stock of arrangements for the Urs of the revered saint being observed tongiht.
According to a statement issued to Kashmir News Service (KNS), CCIK president, Tariq Ghani, Dr Majid Jhangir CEO J&K Waqf Board, Ishtaq Mohiudin Tehsildar Waqk board and officials from police and SMC Srinagar, reviewed arrangements, regarding availability of Water, electricity, sanitation parking seating Arrangements and other necessary facilities’.
CCIK President, CEO Waqf, sought details of arrangements from different departments made and planned for the annual Urs during their visit to the shrine. They also interacted with office bearers of the shrine management and enquired about the requirements for the annual occasion, observed tonight.
CCIK president Tariq Ghani appreciated the role of district administration, Waqf Board for sufficient arrangements, and urged Waqf board to to ensure adequate arrangements for smooth observance of the Urs.
The annual Urs celebrations of the revered saint are held every year from 1 to 6 Zil-Hijjah of the Islamic calendar.
Waqf informed that, the Shab will be observed tonight, and Nimaz-Eisha will be held at 10.30 Pm.
The main function, expected to draw thousands of devotees from across Kashmir.
Syed Ali bin Shahab-ud-Din Hamadani Abidi (1314-1384),popularly known as Shah-e-Hamadan (or King of Hamadan) and as Amir-i Kabir (orthe Great Commander), was a prominent Muslim scholar born in Persia.
He was very influential in spreading Islam in Kashmir and has had a major hand in shaping the culture of the Kashmir valley.(KNS)
