Care for poor, elderly priority during Eid: J&K Speaker Rather to admin

 Srinagar, Mar 18 (KNS) : Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, senior National Conference leader and Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, on Wednesday directed the administration to ensure foolproof arrangements, laying special emphasis on the pilgrim towns of Chrar-i-Sharief and Pakharpora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

 
Chairing a pre-Eid review, Rather called for a pro-active role from the administrative machinery to guarantee a smooth and dignified celebration of the festival across the Union Territory. He instructed the concerned departments to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, sanitation, and proper traffic management to facilitate the public.

Describing Eid-ul-Fitr as a festival of joy, compassion, and social harmony, he urged collective efforts to extend special care to senior citizens, children, and the underprivileged sections of society. He made a fervent appeal to the public to maintain cleanliness, adhere to traffic rules, and uphold the spirit of brotherhood and mutual respect.
 
Rather stressed that timely inter-departmental coordination was imperative to ensure a hassle-free and peaceful environment for the faithful to celebrate the occasion.(KNS)
