Budgam Police Arrest Five in Three Drug Cases

Budgam, Oct 6 (KNS): Budgam Police have arrested five persons and recovered heroin, cannabis and poppy straw in three separate drug-related cases across the district, officials said on Tuesday.

During naka checking at Hyderpora on the intervening night of September 28 and 29, a police party from Police Post Humhama intercepted a WagonR and arrested two persons.

Police identified the duo as Aejaz Ahmad Bhat and Tariq Ahmad Paul, both residents of Narkara. A total of 151 grams of heroin was recovered from their possession, including 126 grams from Bhat and 25 grams from Paul.

In this connection, FIR No. 284/2026 has been registered at Police Station Budgam under relevant provisions of law and investigation is underway.

In another operation on October 2, police intercepted an auto-rickshaw at West End Colony, Hyderpora, and arrested two persons identified as Faisal Ahmad Shah and Ubaid Feroz Zargar, both residents of Mohanpora, Narkara.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel

Around four grams of a heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession. Police have registered FIR No. 285/2026 and initiated an investigation.

In a third operation on October 3, a joint team of Police Post Humhama and CRPF conducted checking near the Airport Drop Gate and arrested a person identified as Shalu E.S., a resident of Kerala.

Police said 69 grams of cannabis and 212 grams of poppy straw were recovered from his baggage. FIR No. 287/2026 has been registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation is underway.

Budgam Police said operations against drug peddling and illicit trafficking would continue across the district.(KNS)
