Budgam Killing: Protests continue for 2nd consecutive day in Kashmir

Srinagar, May 13 (KNS): Protest demonstrations were held on second consecutive day at various places across Kashmir by members of Kashmiri Pandit community after militants shot dead a Kashmiri Pandit in Budgam on Thursday.

Rahul Bhat, a member of the community was killed inside a Tehsil office Chadoora in Budgam district on Thursday.

His killing triggered massive protests by Pandit community at various places on second consecutive day.

Reports reaching Kashmir News Service (KNS) said that protest demonstrations were held at several places including Budgam, Baramulla, Pandit Colony Veerwan, Qazigund, Pulwama, Shopian and several other places.

The protestors alleged that the government has never taken any safety measures for them and they fear for their live now after the killing of their community member.

Meanwhile, People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration, a conglomerate of several regional political parties of J&K on Saturday met after several delegations of Kashmiri Pandit community called upon them.

PAGD spokesperson, M Y Tarigami after the meeting said that they will move to Raj Bhavan to meet LG Manoj Sinha in order to raise security and safety issues of Kashmiri Pandits living in the Valley.

He said that the sole responsibility lies on government, as they are making tall claims of normalcy, but the ground situation is going contrary to that.

“The government has to ensure safety and security of Kashmiri Pandits,” he added. (KNS)
