BSF organises ‘Barakhana’ at Tangdhar as precursor to 57th Raising Day

Karnah, Nov 30 (KNS): The Border Security Force (BSF) is celebrating its 57th Raising Day on Wednesday and as a precursor to this, a Barakhana, under the outreach programme of BSF was organized at Tangdhar in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday.

An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) IG BSF for Kashmir, Raja Babu Singh graced the occasion and attended the Barakhana at Tangdhar.

“The programme was also attended by Bdr S P Consul, 104 Inf Bde, Karna Sector, Subhash Chandra, DIG, Ftr HQ BSF, Amrendra Kumar Vidyarthi, DIG, SHQ BSF Kupwara, Dr Gulzar Ahamed Rather, SDM, Karnah and other Force and civil dignitaries,” he said.

IG BSF while talking to KNS spoke about the history of the Force, which started with 25 Battalion in 1965 and as on date it has grown to be 193 Battalion strong Force. 

He also said that having his own Air Wing and Water Wing makes it a multi dimensional Force and it is doing wonderful job of protecting the boundaries of the country for its people along with the Army on Line of Control as well.

On the occasion, IG honored the families of slain jawans and retirees of BSF, who had gathered there. 

“A cultural programme was also organised in collaboration with children and residents of Tangdhar and BSF troops to mark the Raising Day of the Force. (KNS)
