Jammu Jan 07 (KNS) : Senior Vice President, J&K People’s Conference, and former minister Abdul Gani Vakil today said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are suffering due to the historical, political blunders committed by National Conference leadership. History is a testament to the fact that NC can go to any extent in order to satiate their lust for power. Vakil asserted Kashmiris are facing the brunt of 1987 rigged elections. If the NC government wouldn't have rigged elections the situation wouldn't have been what we are facing for the last 3 decades. The blatant rigging of 1987 resulted in eruption of militancy and subsequent bloodshed in J&K. Till this day, we are facing the brunt. "For things to change and peace to return, the culprits of 1987 must be held accountable," Vakil said. Vakil was addressing a party workers' convention in Jammu today.
While addressing the convention, Vice President People's Conference, and former minister, Syed Basharat Bukhari, said that People's Conference will always fight to ensure equitable development of all the regions of Jammu and Kashmir as it strengthens the bonds of unity and integrity of the J&K which is the need of the hour. He described the political situation in general in J&K as quiet fluid where good governance, transparency and accountability are missing from the scene and in particular the administration is behaving like a mute spectator.Click Here To Follow Our WhatsApp Channel
Addressing the gathering the senior leader Ex MP, Nazir Ahmed Laway, and General Secretary, Mansoor Hussain Suharwadi, expressed concern over the burning problem of unemployment, and said that unemployment is at its all time high. It is shocking in this LG led Admin recruitments are nowhere but only recruitment scams are more. People have lost faith and confidence in this LG admin where everyday a recruitment initiated is being cancelled on the pretext of scams. LG admin is playing with the lives of thousands of young people who after working hard appear for these exams just to get to know one day that these exams have been cancelled.
A resolution was passed in the convention in which it was urged to the government of India to initiate confidence-building measures, before holding Assembly Elections and demanded that the statehood be restored, daily wagers to be regularised, and the elections be held without any delay so that people can see their own popular government after a gap of 6 years.
Besides others who addressed the gathering include Provincial Secretary Irfan Maroo, District President Jammu Mohan Lal Radha, Youth Vice President J&K Youth PC Rydham Singh, Vice President Youth Jammu Rattan Lal and several others. (KNS)
