Srinagar, Dec 06 (KNS): Chairman Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Front (J&KPDF) and former Minister Hakeem Mohammed Yaseen on Monday demanded blacklisting of New Delhi based publishing house Jay Cee Publications for carrying pictorial depiction of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and demanded strict action against those responsible for the act.

In a statement issued to KNS, Hakeem said it was shocking the 2020 edition of a textbook titled "History and Civics" for Class 7 has depicted the sketch of Hakeem Sb. It is unfortunate that the content of the books goes unchecked in Jammu and Kashmir, he said.

“Such mistakes will not be tolerated anymore. We are a Muslim society and there is no space for such things, the senior leader said.

Hakeem questioned that ‘why we have to borrow books from New Delhi without checking their content. Directorate of School Education department has failed to monitor such things and they should probe these things and blacklist the said publisher,” he said.

He demanded action against those who were responsible for circulating such content should be also punished under the law of the land. Why they fail to check the content before reaching Schools.

The said book was being stocked and distributed by Paradise Book Shop, Parraypora Srinagar. Hakeem demanded strict action against the publishing house and those who were responsible for circulating such irresponsible content.

“Such things can fuel anger among the people and urged the administration to cross-check the content of all publishers before going to the market so that such things can be averted in future,” he said. (KNS)
