Development, economy, employment not concern of BJP Govt: G A Mir

Kupwara, Sep 30 (KNS): Backward and weaker sections living in far flung areas in Jammu and Kashmir were witnessing darkest era, while having been pushed to further backwardness due to the approach and wrong policies of the BJP Govt at Centre.

This was disclosed by J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Thursday while addressing a massive public gathering at Dudi Machil, where he also interacted with Congress Party workers and various local delegations from different areas of Machil during his two day’s tour to this backward area of Kupwara District.

JKPCC President was accompanied by Party Vice President Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Gulzar Ahmad Wani (Former Legislators) and other Senior Party Leaders and District Presidents.

Addressing the massive public gathering, Ghulam Ahmad Mir reminded the people of the promises which have been made to them by BJP with regard to inclusive development of J&K especially backward areas and other weaker sections and said all the promises made by it (BJP Govt) have fallen flat rather various important developmental schemes sanctioned by the previous UPA I UPA II for the welfare of the  people have either been withdrawn or waiting for implementation, which was responsible for further backwardness of  backward areas, with the result, downtrodden people were witnessing darkest era under BJP rule.

There was lack of road connectivity, poor supply of electricity, lack of basic amenities, absence of adequate health facilities and other developmental issues confronting people in Machil and other similarly situated backward areas across J&K, it was ironic rather than addressing  issues, Govt was doing mere paper works and tall announcements, whileas no efforts were being made to reach out to people in these remote areas, JKPCC President said.

Mir said there was no accountability, no response to people’s grievances, unemployment has risen considerably, developmental and other issues seems  not the concern of BJP Govt, which rely on falsehood and political exploitation inorder to remain  in power, Mir added and lashed out at anti people policies adopted by the BJP Govt towards the people of J&K and cautioned it (BJP) about the consequences and anger brewing among the general masses, which was undoubtedly at it’s peak across J&K.

People have realized that they were being punished under the garb of so-called development which was nowhere to be seen, with the result, they have lost trust in BJP and its offshoots and urged the huge gathering of people to rise to the occasion to defeat the politics of deceit and deception, Mir told the gathering.

Referring to the political stalemate in J&K, Ghulam Ahmad Mir hit out at the Centre Govt for denying J&K people their right to elect the irrepresentatives, not only this the BJP Govt  has snatched rights of the people to fulfill their anti J&K agenda, which  has disappointed every section of the people living in J&K.

On this occasion Mir said J&K deserves popular Govt not Governor’s Rule, so efforts should made to hold elections early after granting full Statehood to ensure that people’s voices and grievances are heard and addressed by the elected Govt, at the sametime JKPCC President also reminded Centre Govt of its promise of granting statehood in Parliament, saying that full statehood subsequently the elections must to restore confidence amongst the people in J&K.

JKPCC President assured the gathering that Congress will continue to work for the backward, weaker and other poor sections living in the Country especially J&K, it will make the  Govt accountable and answerable to people for what it has done to J&K after assuming power at Centre. I take this opportunity to assure you (people) of Machil and other backwards areas that your interests and developmental needs will be taken up with the Govt, for which Congress Party feels fully dutybound, won’t compromise on its stated position of serving people equally, besides fighting against discrimination, Mir said.

Addressing the gathering Haji Abdul Rashid Dar, Gulzar Ahmad Wani and Imtiyaz Parray urged the people of Machil to strengthen the Congress Party, as that, it was the Congress Party alone which has takin care of urges and aspiration of the people, shall continue to remain committed to strengthen the people living in backward and other areas in J&K.
